Search for the Signers: Visiting the Graves of the Signers of the Declaration of Independence

What began as an unusual pastime quickly became a true fixation. Upon discovering a cemetery with three of the Declaration signers’ graves whilst on an excursion with friends, this project was conceived: hunting for and photographing the graves of the 56 signers of the Declaration of Independence. At first, it appeared to be a simple venture. As pictures were taken and names crossed off the list, important queries came to the forefront. Is this where the signer was originally buried? Was he moved from a primary burial location? Is the true grave locale on record? Ultimately, it was discovered that a large amount of Declaration signers aren’t interred in their original burial locations.
